Acoustic Alchemy의 오랜 멤버였던 Nick Webb은 1998년 2월 5일 췌장암으로 세상을 떠났다. 세상을 떠나기 직전까지 작업하던 앨범은 그의 유작이 되었고 또 다른 멤버인 Greg Carmichael은 곡 작업을 계속하여 “Positive thinking”이라는 이름으로 발표하였다. 앨범 속지에는 Nick Webb의 마지막 글이 적혀있다.

Positive thinking...

...is somewhat of a milestone for Greg and myself as it is our 10th collaboration together and takes us into our second decade as musical partners. We were able, due to unusual circumstances, to spend most of 1997 preparing and writing our new work and we are both delighted with the result.

The recording took place in the winter of 1998 in large rambling Manor House just outside Bath in England. Steve Jones, our producer, set up his recording equipment in the main hall and invited John Shepard, Dennis Murphy and Miles Gilderdale-all members of our regular road band and John Parsons, the third Alchemist, to come and do their stuff.

It proved to be an ideal way to record and both Greg and I felt very comfortable living and sharing our musical creativity with our fellow band members.

We hope you enjoy the fruits of our labours and the positive thoughts that have made it possible.

Our friend and inspiration Nick Webb passed away during the latter stages of making this album. The remaining members of Acoustic Alchemy offer it with love as a tribute and celebration of his life and works.
